CARTA 3 — 505 Error Code – Atomizer Disconnected
If your CARTA 3 displays Error 505, this indicates a connection issue between the INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer and the connection pins inside the CARTA 3 base. This error means your device is having difficulty detecting or communicating with the atomizer, which may prevent it from heating properly. Fortunately, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take before contacting our support team.
Check for Firmware Updates
Before inspecting your device, make sure your CARTA 3 is running the latest firmware.
- Power on your CARTA 3 and open the V Browser app.
- Connect your CARTA 3 to the app.
- Check for any available firmware updates.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it. Once the update is complete, check whether Error 505 continues to appear.
Deep Clean the INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer
If updating your firmware doesn't resolve the issue, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer and the connection pins inside your CARTA 3 base.
- Power Off and Cool Down: Turn off your CARTA 3 and allow the atomizer to cool completely before handling it.
- Remove the Atomizer: Carefully unscrew the INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer from the CARTA 3 base.
- Clean the Connection Pins: Using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol, gently clean the connection pins on the bottom of the atomizer.
- Remove Silicone Components: Carefully detach any removable silicone components from the atomizer.
- Clean the Atomizer Chamber: Using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol, gently wipe the inside of the atomizer chamber to remove any visible concentrate residue.
- Soak the Atomizer: Submerge only the atomizer in 90% isopropyl alcohol for approximately 5 minutes. Gently agitate the alcohol to help loosen stubborn residue.
- Clean the Base Connection Pins: While the atomizer is soaking, use a fresh cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the connection pins inside the CARTA 3 base. Carefully remove any visible residue or buildup around the pins, avoiding excessive liquid contact with the base's electronic components.
- Allow to Dry Completely: Remove the atomizer from the alcohol and allow it to air-dry completely. Inspect for any remaining residue and repeat the cleaning process if necessary. Make sure the base connection pins are also completely dry.
- Reassemble the Atomizer: Once everything is completely clean and dry, reattach the silicone components and reinstall the atomizer into the CARTA 3 base until snug, without overtightening.
Test Your CARTA 3
Once your atomizer and connection pins are completely clean and dry, power your CARTA 3 back on and attempt another heating cycle. If Error 505 no longer appears, your device should be ready for normal use.
