CARTA 3 — 502 Error Code – Overheating
If your CARTA 3 displays Error 502, this indicates that your device has detected a possible overheating issue and activated its overheating protection. This safety feature helps protect your CARTA 3 and INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer from excessive heat. While this error may prevent your device from heating properly, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take before contacting our support team.
Check for Firmware Updates
Before inspecting your device, make sure your CARTA 3 is running the latest firmware.
- Power on your CARTA 3 and open the V Browser app.
- Connect your CARTA 3 to the app.
- Check for any available firmware updates.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it. Once the update is complete, check whether Error 502 continues to appear.
Allow Your CARTA 3 to Cool Down
Since Error 502 indicates a possible overheating issue, we recommend allowing your device to cool completely before attempting another heating cycle.
- Power off your CARTA 3.
- Allow the base and INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer to cool naturally.
- Avoid attempting additional heating cycles while the device is displaying the error.
- Once completely cool, power your CARTA 3 back on and check whether the error continues. If Error 502 persists, proceed with a thorough cleaning of your atomizer and base connection pins.
Deep Clean the INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer
If updating your firmware and allowing the device to cool doesn't resolve the issue, we recommend thoroughly cleaning your INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer and the connection pins inside your CARTA 3 base.
- Power Off and Cool Down: Turn off your CARTA 3 and allow the atomizer to cool completely before handling it.
- Remove the Atomizer: Carefully unscrew the INTELLI-CORE 3 Atomizer from the CARTA 3 base.
- Clean the Connection Pins: Using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol, gently clean the connection pins on the bottom of the atomizer.
- Remove Silicone Components: Carefully detach any removable silicone components from the atomizer.
- Clean the Atomizer Chamber: Using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol, gently wipe the inside of the atomizer chamber to remove any visible concentrate residue.
- Soak the Atomizer: Submerge only the atomizer in 90% isopropyl alcohol for approximately 5 minutes. Gently agitate the alcohol to help loosen stubborn residue.
- Clean the Base Connection Pins: While the atomizer is soaking, use a fresh cotton swab lightly dampened with 90% isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the connection pins inside the CARTA 3 base. Carefully remove any visible residue or buildup around the pins, avoiding excessive liquid contact with the base's electronic components.
- Allow to Dry Completely: Remove the atomizer from the alcohol and allow it to air-dry completely. Inspect for any remaining residue and repeat the cleaning process if necessary. Make sure the base connection pins are also completely dry.
- Reassemble the Atomizer: Once everything is completely clean and dry, reattach the silicone components and reinstall the atomizer into the CARTA 3 base until snug, without overtightening.
Test Your CARTA 3
Once your atomizer and connection pins are completely clean and dry, power your CARTA 3 back on and attempt another heating cycle. If Error 502 no longer appears, your device should be ready for normal use. If the error returns, discontinue use and contact our support team for further assistance.
