When first received, make sure to fully charge your device. Your kit comes with a USB-C cable that is intended to be used with a 5v 1-2 amp charging block [standard Apple or Samsung charging block]. If you notice that the battery is not fully charged, plug it in until all LEDs illuminate and turn green (Do not leave the unit charging for more than two hours). Once charged your CARTA 1 is ready to be used.

Start-Up:
To turn your device on click 5 times, upon start up the unit’s LEDs will blink 3 times. The number of LEDs that blink upon start-up indicates the charge level (ie. 3 LEDs = ~75 battery life). After this sequence, the unit's LEDs will go dark, as it awaits a command.

Initiate A Session:
To start a session press once on the power button, once initiated a blue blinking LED will appear. The number of LEDs that flash indicates what heat preset the unit is set to (ie. 1 LED = Preset 1). Click on the power button to cycle through the different presets. Once the unit reaches the set heat the blue blinking LEDs will turn to solid green LEDs. From here load your product for a hot start, or cap it if you already loaded it for a cold start.  

How to Load:
There are two methods to load your unit, the cold start and hot start, each has a different effect on the flavor of the product that is loaded.

     1. How to Cold Start:
The cold start method is when you load your product before firing your atomizer. This method works best with concentrate types that are easier to work such as cold cure, budder, crumble, diamonds and shatter. Take a rice grain size dab of the product and insert it to the bottom of the insert. Then just cap the atomizer, fire your CARTA, and enjoy! The cold start method is noted to provide a more flavorful experience and is best when using temperatures from (400F to 450F). 

     2. How to Hot Start:
The hot start method is when you load your product after the atomizer has been fired and already reached the set heat. This method works best with concentrate types that are more difficult to load such as fresh press and resin sauce. To do so first start by scooping out your dab (.1g-.3g is the dab size we recommend). Once that dab is plucked, start your session on the device and wait until the desired temperature is reached. When you see those green LEDs go ahead and drop your tool down into the insert and hold until you see your product melt off. Muscle memory may take over but make sure to not whisk it around like you’re using a banger. When everything melts off that tool remove it, cap the atomizer and start inhaling. Hot starts are a lot easier to load and cause less of a mess. The recommended temperature range is (450F to 550F).

What temps should I use?:
To get the best experience and vapor from your device we recommend using temperatures from 420F to 500F, you can access these temperatures by using the Focus V CARTA App. The presets on the CARTA 1 unit range from 550F-850F:

Preset 1: 550 F
Preset 2: 650 F
Preset 3: 750 F
Preset 4: 850 F

For the most part, we recommend using Preset 1, However, feel free to go lower or higher depending on your own preference.

How to inhale:
For the best results lightly draw the unit, the slower the draw the better the vapor will stack. Slow draws will also ensure that your product does not splash and drip into the inner chamber.
